April 12th marked the official introduction of FocusOn SWR to the local businesses and residents. Hosted by George Eldi of Wines By Nature in the Shoppes at East Wind and catered by Ruggero’s, it was an incredibly well-attended event.
A streaming, looped video of the full premiere issue flipping page by page was shown overhead as George started the evening off with an introduction about why he has become an integral part of the publication. As a publishing and marketing company “focused on” local business as well as building community, Focus On Long Island works hand-in-hand with the local merchants and the residents to deliver a meaningful experience for both. He added that we have the same goals as the Chamber as well. An accurate statement to say the least.
George then introduced FocusOn SWR’s Public Relations Manager Monika Mannix who introduced herself, spoke about her many connections within and her pride of the community. She explained a bit about the goals of the magazine and the fast-growing interest from residents as more and more people download and view the issue online. She also spoke about how the “feel-good” magazine is such a great way to build an even greater sense of community in an already strongly involved area.
Publisher and Sales & Marketing Director Ron Smith talked about the near year-long journey to develop the business plan, find the right people and build a meaningful publication. He thanked the entire staff – almost all of which attended – without whom he mentioned the magazine itself would have never happened.
“Without the dedication and professionalism of this incredible staff that we managed to put together in a matter of months, Focus On Long Island would still be an idea. There’s no way I could have done it without them. I am so proud to have them on-board.”Ron Smith
Then, rather than taking up the limited time giving the scheduled social media market 2019 breakdown, he mentioned that all who attended would be getting a copy of his online marketing book by email in the coming weeks. He then handed the mic over to the attending staff starting with Editor-in-Chief Shannon Copcutt who all mentioned their excitement to be involved on such a worthwhile project.
Ron concluded with a thank you to Staff Photographer Frank Saliba from sponsor clix|couture for covering the evening. Scroll to the bottom of this post to view the entire gallery of images or use the link in the menu.
Ron summed up the entire premise of supporting SWR businesses by mentioning “the wine tasting is free – make sure if you like it to buy a bottle and support our hosts!” Many did!
Guests stuck around to enjoy both the wine and the amazing meatballs and bruschetta provided by Ruggero’s as well as the charcuterie platter provided by The Cheese & Spice Market. The rest of the evening continued after hours at one of the evening’s sponsors eat + drink in Shoreham to make sure all areas were represented!. Look for a feature on eat + drink in the current issue online and soon in your mailbox!
