Another dear member of our community was recently lost to us. Melissa Marchese, age 18 of Shoreham, died as a result of her injuries from a tragic car accident that occurred at the intersection of Route 25A and Miller Avenue in Shoreham on June 13, 2019.

Melissa was due to graduate with honors this past June from Shoreham Wading River High School and was committed to join the softball team of the University of Hartford this fall. They had recognized her for her outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments and were saddened to hear of this tragedy..

Melissa was only 18 years old but made such an impact on all who knew her in our community and beyond. She is remembered as a true friend, beautiful, funny, compassionate, loving, and kind with a winning smile that could lift anyone’s spirit.

We would like to share a post on facebook by one of our staff writers and friend of Melissa’s; Kerry Mannix.

I want to take a minute to thank God because even though our community has suffered so many horrible tragedies, there is no other community I’d rather be a part of. Thank you to every member of the SWR and surrounding community that has contributed positively in anyway.

Thank you to everyone who has been through these tragedies with us, who has prayed for us, who has sent their love to us, and especially to those most directly affected by these tragedies. Thank you to all the brave young people in our community that keep the memories of their friends alive and well. Thank you to anyone that has ever lent someone else a shoulder to cry on. Most of all, thank you to our SWR angels; though gone far too soon, all our lives were so much

better because of your presences, and you will never be forgotten and will always be loved. Mel, thank you for everything you’ve done. Thank you for all the memories, I’ll always regret us growing apart but I’ll always be thankful for the time we shared. You are so beautiful and you are so loved. Fly high angel, say hello to the rest of them for us.

If something’s wrong, tell someone.
If you’re tired, don’t drive.
If you’re in a rush, consider that being late can be a blessing in disguise.
In general, please drive safely. Remember that you’re worth something, you’re precious cargo, and so is everyone else out on the road; their lives are in your hands.

I’m here. I’m always here. I’ll always be here. There are so many members of our community that care so much. I am one of them. If you need to talk to someone, reach out. Do not feel guilty about being upset. Do not feel guilty if you don’t feel anything. Take care of you, always.

I have so much love for you all, to me, we are all the Lord’s children, and I care immensely for my family. God Bless.
